All Funk'ed Up: The Bamboos

"Funk is an American music genre that originated in the late 1960s when African American musicians blended soul music, soul jazz and R&B into a rhythmic, danceable new form of music." -Wikipedia

Famous bands performing Funk music:
Jamiroquai, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince, Gnarls Barkley , Parliament -to name a few..

I came across this band called The Bamboos and had fun listening to their track On the Sly. The video below is not bad either, I always had a thing for men in suits, James Bond-type-movies and all that jazz. ;)

The Anti-Ipad Propaganda

The Apple iPad: hate it or buy it..

Presenting some funny and weird iPad images shared all over the web. It's amazing what people can come up with out of sheer boredom.

Last but not the least, Mad TV came up with a crazy iPad commercial 2 years before the iPad's debut.

So, have you made up your mind yet? :)

So long and farewell MTV Philippines

"I'd like to begin by thanking you for being here today, as we bid farewell to what was to most, a dear friend - to others, a lover - and to a select few, a slave driving partner that drove you mad (but brought out a level of creativity you never thought yourself capable of producing)."-reads Sarah Meier's note via Facebook, which she also tweeted about today.

This is probably the saddest story since the departure of the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien ..Although admittedly I have not been a BIG fan of MTV for the passed decade, I sure feel a little sad for the people who worked so hard to make the show survive.

John Joe Joseph as well blogged recently via tumblr "The One thing that made my stay at MTV the best was THE CREW!!! .. Epic in every way! i’m glad we were able to help local talent shine."

To all the VJ's and crew of the late MTV Philippines, thank you and hey, you were so lucky to meet all the cool musicians and artists for the love of the show - Be proud!

I leave you now with Picoy Cruz's cool

V-Day Duo -songs for the 'loved' and 'love-less'

A friend of mine asked me one day if I would sleep with a rockstar and I said NO.
And I couldn't care less if they have the swagger and sex appeal; although I do understand why women willingly throw themselves.

Why wouldn't I? Because they sleep or have slept with A LOT of people already.. (so, no thank you)

But if I were to make a few exceptions, I might sleep with Julian Velard.
Why? Try listening to two of my favorite tracks of him. Jimmy Dean and Steve McQueen is also an awesome song but I excluded it- since it's not so fitting for the V-Day vibe.

Here are two tracks - Love again for the first time (for the 'loved') and Do It Alone (for the 'love-less').

What's your song for Valentine's day?

Hi!
I
have
finally
resurrected..

llustration taken from www.darlenesanguenza.com

In just a few days, chocolates will be eaten, letters and flowers sent, restaurants packed, hotel/motel rooms booked and 'love' or the commercialized version of it, will be in the air..

As for me, I decided to love my single self this Valentine's with a no-frills, relaxing and pampered weekend..

In anticipation of V-Day, I would like to share a love song, covered by Nouvelle Vague entitled "Just Can't Get Enough".. Originally performed by Depeche Mode, written by Vince Clarke and released in UK in 1981. ENJOY!

P.S.
The illustration above was skillfully done by my good friend Darlene.. You can view more of her works at www.darlenesanguenza.com
